In order to support writers who might not otherwise be able to take my course Writing Teaches Writing I am offering the following scholarships:
I’ve worked with so many seniors who are creating gorgeous work imbued with the wisdom of years lived. I believe in these voices, and I’m also aware of how challenging life can be on the fixed income provided to our elders. This scholarship will cover the tuition for the course for one emerging/beginning writer (without a book traditionally published) who is 65 years of age or older.
Literature needs to do a better job representing a diversity of stories. In order to do a little bit to help support varied voices, I’m offering a scholarship covering the cost of the course to a person self-identifying as belonging to a group underrepresented in mainstream literature including but not limited to: people of colour; LGBTQ; belonging to an ethnic, cultural, or religious minority; Indigenous; and/or being a person with a disability, including ‘invisible’ conditions such as mental health challenges or developmental differences like Aspergers and autism spectrum condition.
